UWA Business School retains international accreditation

The University of Western Australia’s Business School has retained a prestigious accreditation, which only five per cent of business schools in the world have achieved.

The Business School achieved accreditation for a further five years through the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International following a rigorous peer review process.

UWA Business School Dean and Professor of Economics Peter Robertson said the AACSB peer review team had given very positive feedback.

“AACSB re-accreditation is an enormous credit to our School staff and reflects our commitment to world leading teaching and research,” he said.

The AACSB peer review team commended the School for its innovation in teaching through digital innovation and investment in best practice digital and technology skills, as well as its work on homelessness and other social challenges.

Other commendations were for the School’s strong corporate links, which create opportunities for students through engagement activities such as master classes, student boardroom visits and the Business School’s successful and popular work-integrated-learning programs.

The review team also commended the School for its initiatives to support the work of charitable and non-profit human service organisations.

Professor Robertson said the accreditation process also involved students, the University and community.

“The Business School is strongly supported by the broader community,” he said. “We have a strong relationship with the corporate community, allowing us to build and expand on work-integrated learning programs.”

The review team also noted the Business School’s impressive record in research impact and translation, with staff regularly contributing to media outlets such as The Wall Street Journal and Harvard Business Review, as well as Australian media outlets such as The Conversation.

The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International is a global non-profit association with offices in the US, the Netherlands and Singapore.
