Monash University has delivered a strong performance in the 2025 ShanghaiRanking Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) with nine subjects ranked #1 in Australia including:
- Business Administration
- Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences
- Mining and Mineral Engineering
- Education
- Finance
- Economics
- Law
- Communication
- Earth Sciences
Nineteen subjects also placed in the global top 50, up from 14 in 2025 (see the table below). The University remains in the top 10 globally in four subject areas:
- Business Administration (#3)
- Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences (#3)
- Mining & Mineral Engineering (#4)
- Education (#10)
The result follows Monash’s outstanding performance in global university rankings, including an eight place rise to #41 globally in the recently announced QS Sustainability Rankings 2026. In our short history we have established ourselves consistently among the world’s best tertiary institutions, due to the incredible work of our researchers, educators, faculties and extended community and their dedication to our founding purpose: to drive meaningful and positive change for the benefit of aspiring communities and industries locally, across our region, and around the world.
Monash also ranks in the world’s top-50 universities in the QS World University Rankings 2025 and US News and World Report Best Global Universities Rankings 2024-25.
