The Royal Meteorological Society has awarded their 2020 Climate Science Communications Award to Dr Tamsin Edwards.
The Royal Meteorological Society has awarded Dr Tamsin Edwards its Communication Award for 2021. The award, which celebrates those who have helped inform and shape public debate, was awarded at a virtual ceremony on Monday.
The panel stated that Dr Edwards set the standard internationally for pro-active, open and objective communication with the public on climate change and its scientific basis and has built a huge reputation for clarity and as a trusted voice of authority.
Dr Edwards is director of the King’s Climate Hub, as well as Lead Author of the forthcoming Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Sixth Assessment Report (to be published in 2021) and a Contributing Author to the IPCC Special Report on the Ocean and Cryosphere in a Changing Climate (2019).
Having recently co-hosted ‘39 Ways to Save the Planet: Wood for Good with Tom Heap on BBC Radio 4, Dr Edwards will be co-hosting a series for King’s College London and Australian National University ahead of the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Glasgow. The series will speak with experts from across King’s and ANU about the challenges we face and how they can be overcome to meet the threat posed by climate change. The series, which launches in September in the run-up to COP26 in November.
