Nominations open for LU medals and awards

Nominations are now open for the 2022 Lincoln University medals and awards, which recognise individuals who have made outstanding achievements in their fields of expertise.

The university welcomes nominations from alumni, staff, students, industry, friends, associates and members of the public. Nominations close on 31 August 2021.

Medals and awards include the following.

Bledisloe Medal

  • Established in 1930 by Viscount Bledisloe, former Governor General of New Zealand
  • Awarded to a former Lincoln student or a past or current Lincoln staff member who has made an outstanding contribution to their chosen field of expertise, advanced New Zealand’s interests, and/or brought credit to Lincoln University

Lincoln University Alumni International Medal

  • Established in 2003
  • Awarded to a former Lincoln student or a past or current Lincoln staff member who has made an outstanding contribution to their chosen field of expertise, and has brought credit to Lincoln University due to their achievements in a country other than New Zealand.

Lincoln University Medal

  • Established in 2008
  • Awarded to a Lincoln staff member, graduate, or member of the Lincoln community who has provided long-term voluntary service and support to the fabric or reputation of Lincoln University

Ngāti Moki Trophy for Māori Leadership

  • Gifted to Lincoln University in 2008 by Te Taumutu Runanga and named for Moki, the tupuna of Ngāti Moki, Ngāi Te Ruahikihiki ki Taumutu
  • Awarded to a Lincoln student, graduate, alumni, staff member or associate who has shown considerable leadership and commitment to Māori development and advancement at Lincoln

Lincoln University Honorary Degrees

  • Awarded by a committee established by the Lincoln University Council
  • Available honorary degrees are Doctor in Commerce, Doctor of Natural Resources, Doctor of Science and Doctor of Social Science honoris causa

Chancellor’s Medal

  • Established in 2021
  • Awarded to a current or former Lincoln staff member or alumni who has provided significant and meritorious service that has brought credit to Lincoln University

Global Science Medal

  • Established in 2021
  • Awarded to a former student, current or former staff member or associate of Lincoln University who, in the opinion of the Lincoln University Council, has made an outstanding contribution to his or her chosen field in science and brought credit to the university through the current or future global impact of their achievements
