The University was also listed among the best schools in the northeastern region, which are considered “academically outstanding,” according to the Princeton Review’s 2021 edition of The Best 386 Colleges.

WRHU 88.7 FM Radio Hofstra University was ranked #13 among the nation’s best college stations.  The station has made several appearances on The Princeton Review’s annual lists, twice earning the title of the nation’s best college radio station since 2015.

The Princeton Review’s rankings are based on surveys of 143,000 students at the 386 schools featured. Students were asked 85 questions about their school’s academics, administration, college life, their fellow students, and themselves.

WRHU has also won the National Association of Broadcasters’ prestigious Marconi Award as College Radio Station of the Year three times, in 2014, 2017, and in 2019. It was named the nation’s best college radio station for 2019 by BestColleges.com. WRHU’s student reporters have received honors from the New York State Associated Press Association, the Press Club of Long Island, the Society of Professional Journalists, and New York Women in Communications, among others.

It has also been the flagship station of the NHL’s New York Islanders since 2010, and is the first and only college radio station to have an exclusive broadcasting agreement with a professional major-league sports team. In 2016, WRHU was named the flagship station of the Long Island Nets, an NBA G-League team, producing and broadcasting its home games at NYCB Live, home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
