HKU honours outstanding academics at Excellence Awards Presentation Ceremony for 2020

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) held the HKU Excellence Awards Presentation Ceremony for 2020 on March 31 (Wednesday) to celebrate the exceptional achievements of their academics in teaching and learning and in research, and to recognise their contributions to knowledge exchange with society.

HKU President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Xiang Zhang officiated at the ceremony. Pro-Chancellor Dr the Honourable Sir David Li Kwok Po was the Guest of Honour.

Two new awards have been introduced this year, the HKU Innovator Award and the HKU Young Innovator Award. Professor Tang Chuyang from the Department of Civil Engineering was winner of the inaugural Innovator Award. Dr Kwok Ka Wai from the Department of Mechanical Engineering was winner of the inaugural Young Innovator Award.

Eight other categories of awards were presented at the ceremony, including the University Distinguished Teaching Award, Outstanding Teaching Award, Early Career Teaching Award, Teaching Innovation Award, Outstanding Researcher Award, Outstanding Young Researcher Award, Outstanding Research Student Supervisor Award and Knowledge Exchange Excellence Award.
