Professor Arkadiusz Wójs, the 15th rector of the WUST

During the election meeting on June 25, the WUST Electoral College elected prof. Arkadiusz Wójs as rector of the 2020-2024 term. Rector elect will officially head the university on September 1.

Professor Arkadiusz Wójs, the 15th rector of the WUST

Professor Arkadiusz Wójs will be the 15th rector in the history of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology. He will also be the youngest elected rector – he is now 49 years old.

During his scientific career prof. Arkadiusz Wójs also worked at the National Research Council of Canada, at the University of Tennessee and at the University of Cambridge. He lectured at many universities in the world.

For a long time as a young & talented I was looking for the best university in the world. I worked in several places, including at Cambridge, probably the best university in the world. But I’ve had a different dream for ten years. My dream is for this best university to be here at the Wrocław University of Science and Technology – he said.

Currently prof. Wójs is the dean of the Faculty of Fundamental Problems of Technology.

Privately prof. Arkadiusz Wójs is the son of prof. Kazimierz Wójs and attorney Dorota Wójs. The husband of Gabriela, father of 13-year-old Natalia, owner of the Bourbon dog.

As he writes in his biogram – he is interested in the whole world, and above all the subtle connections between science, art and the human mind. His passions are people and music, which is why as a music lover card holder he attends the majority of concerts organized by the National Forum of Music. He plays tennis, runs, swims and reads.
